The President of the Southern Technical University discusses with the project coordinator of the Education Department at UNESCO, ways of joint cooperation

The President of the Southern Technical University, Prof. Dr. Rabee Hashem Al-Abbasi, met in his office, the project coordinator of the Education Department at UNESCO, Mr. Bilal Al-Hamayda and the Associate Director of the project , Mohammed Jamal Abdul-Rahman, and discussed with them means of joint cooperation. Al-Abbasi indicated that the university is preparing to implement the Bologna educational path, and that it has conducted a comprehensive survey of the labor market in order to match these surveys with the curricula established for teaching students.Pointing out that the labor market differs from one governorate to another, so it is important for the university to have independence in setting curricula.The President of the University stressed the need to train young people looking for of  job opportunities and provide them with the skills they need, and that the university is ready to offer important programs in the administrative, technological and health fields.From his part, Al-Hamayda expressed his happiness with this meeting, praising the role of the Southern Technical University in training, qualification and follow-up of its graduate students.Then he gave a detailed explanation of what the organization is doing in Basra through its work of restoring and rehabilitating heritage houses. The project will include about 150 heritage houses.On the other hand, the two parties discussed the establishment of training programs to qualify hundreds of job seekers through their participation in specialized courses, provided that the university prepares an integrated training curriculum for this purpose.

After that, the visiting delegation inspected the Continuing Education Center building and reviewed the training and rehabilitation halls.

The meeting was attended by the director of the office of the president of the university, as well as the director of the media and public  relations department.
