The Engineering Technical College, Basra, at the Southern Technical University, discussed confronting climate change and its repercussions, in a workshop organized by the college and attended by the President of the University, Prof. Dr.Rabee hashim al abbasi , And the President of the University of Basra for Oil and Gas and Assistant President of the University for Administrative Affairs and deans of colleges.

As well as researchers and specialists in this regard.

The workshop titled Our Environment is Our Life

It examined the role of Iraqi universities in confronting climate change and its repercussions, identifying issues related to its changes, identifying the needs and methods that should be taken to combat this phenomenon, adapt to it and reduce its negative effects at various environmental, economic and social levels.

The workshop also discussed research on the carcinogenic effects of gas burning on children, the importance of studying climate effects and how to reduce their negative effects, in addition to the role of environmental awareness in facing climate change and climate change disasters.

The Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Adnan Abdullah Ateeq, explained in his speech in which he opened the workshop the importance of universities and scientific research institutions in addressing climate change issues.

Pointing out that the United Nations, within its framework agreements on climate change, urges all parties involved in the agreement to carry out educational and awareness campaigns on climate change worldwide.
